Saturday Stroll

The weather hasn't been the best lately, so anytime its nice out we try to do something outdoors. On Saturday we jumped in the car with our winter clothes on and skis in the back and headed for a drive through the mountains.  We really didnt have an agenda, just kind of headed towards the mountains.  In Praxmer we found a rental shop and rented some snowshoes for the day.

Me trying to keep up
For me it was a stroll, for Craig it was more like a sprint. Praxmer is known for its backcountry skiing so there were trails that we could snowshoe on.  Someone decided a couple times that we were going to make our own trails.

I had a minor diva moment when I couldnt keep up, but it was just to beautiful up there to get all huffy puffy.

A little friend we found on our way...

When the sun started to go down, we needed to too.   Of course we didnt go back the way we came we had to make our own path all the way down.  I was really hesitant at first because it was getting late and I really didnt feel like falling into a crevasse, but we kept going.

 and going....

The way down was so much fun.  The snow was so deep that every time you sunk down you automatically face planted.  I had three good diggers.  Craig went down so hard that he bent his pole.  Our afternoon stroll had turned into extreme snowshoeing.

and that has made all the difference" RF

It was the most exciting work out I have ever done.  We were out there for almost 3 hours.  The tempts were single digits by the time we made it back to the car.  We are definitely going to go back there for another afternoon...maybe pack a lunch and make a day out of it.  I am dying to bring my DSLR up there.  I slept like a baby that night!

We did an overnight up in Seefeld on Thursday with a couple other people.  One of the sponsors for Craig's team owns a bunch of hotels and they were gracious enough to let us stay in one up there for a night.  The hotel was UNREAL...it had a wellness section and a huge indoor outdoor pool.

 The food there was delicious!

pumpkin soup
Dessert: Cheese, honeycomb, and almonds

We might have had a couple extra beers then needed but it was an awesome way to end their break!

Martha...

We did breakfast for dinner again...my favorite.  Seasoned potatoes and a veggie frittata.  If your ever on a budget this is the meal to make.  The whole thing was about 10 euros at most.  It was loaded with broc, onion, yellow and green pepper, cherry tomatoes, a little bit of cheese, and one garlic glove. I topped the whole thing with some sliced avocado

I also made a healthy beef stew....this was a hit.

Martha has got to step it up big time this weekend. I am hosting a baby shower for TWO expecting mom's!!!!

My new helmet arrived today so now I can do some serious skiing.  Smartest purchase I have made in a long time.

Of course we dont have anything planned yet for this summer...but we have picked a wedding date!!!
