Spiel Tag

Finallyyyyyyy, I was able to see Craig play a game last night.  I was only able to make it to two games last year, so it was nice to see it in person rather then through a computer screen.   Before I went to the game I decided to explore the town a bit, and ended up walking up a dirt road which eventually lead to some hiking trails.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of the day:

The best way I can describe Austria so far is  Alaska meets Franconia Notch on steroids.

On to the game...

Here is a picture of Craig in his game day uniform.  The team provided the traditional coat  and collared shirt for each player to wear before and after the games.  I usually liked seeing him in a suit on game day, but I have to say this in my new favorite "Jcrew/Toy Soldier".

I was picked up by another girlfriend and a wife who brought me to the game.  Thank god because I still need some more practice driving a stick before I get on the Autobahn. All the wives/fiances/girlfriends I met at the game were super nice, welcoming, and speak English! It was really comforting to know that they are going through the same transition from familiarity to an unaccustomed life.

The game was sold out.   I've been to all sorts of sporting events from professional to high school and I have never seen such intensity from fans before.  They were on their feet cheering and chanting the entire game.  Even though Craig's team lost the fans still cheered till the very end of the game, the UNH student section could even use some tips from these guys.

Here's an Article from last weeks paper:
