Garmisch and Ritzbühel

On Friday, I traveled to Garmisch, Germany to see my friend and old ski coach Tommy! It was so nice to see a familiar face and hear all about his new coaching job with the Ontario Ski Team.   I showed up early and was able to see him coach and his team train.  Reminded me of the good ol days.    The conditions were not so great because of a previous spell of rain, but we had a huge catch up session over lunch in a midway lodge.

The Ski area was huge and I only skied a tiny part.  The lifts were unbelievable though, some even had heated cushions something that I have never experienced.  There is nothing like freezing your ass off skiing and then warming it up on the way up to do it all over again!

On Saturday Meg and I decided to hop in the car and explore Kitzbühel, or as I now call it Ritzbühel.  I thought I finally dressed appropriately but I clearly missed the memo that you need to be in fur from head to toe when walking around there.  Even my faux fur hat and jacket collar weren't enough.
Some nice folks we met there...sans fur too

The stores were extremely tres chic with futuristic winter fashion and ridiculously expensive furniture.  But the town still had a modest feel to it.  The buildings were traditional Austria colors which I love!

book me a room here please!

We walked around for a couple hours and grabbed some lunch at a really cute Italian Restaurant.  I really feel in love with this town...perfect combination of fun, fashion, and  skiing.  It was pretty quiet when we were there but I am sure on the weekends it probably livens up!

 Martha...bland and boring

I feel like I have definitely mastered breakfast!

This was the soup that I made with my left over rice...I thought it was really bland...but Craig liked it.

Hopefully I can get some inspiration in ITALY!!!! Yes, I am heading back!!!  My Mom had a business trip planned there so my Dad and I decided to join her and make a vacation out of it.  Tomrrow I will meet them in Sorrento and from there we will be exploring the Amalfi Coast, Naples, and Rome.  I am just a little excited...
